Saskatoon police seek suspect in attempted New Year’s Day robberies

Saskatoon police are looking for a suspect after two attempted robberies at automated teller machines on New Year’s Day.

The first incident took place inside an ATM vestibule in the 200 block of Slimmon Road around 5:45 p.m., city police said in a Thursday news release.

A man reported he was approached by an unknown man with a knife who demanded money. The victim refused and the suspect fled the area.

Police said a short time later a woman was approached by an unknown man with a similar description at an ATM vestibule in the 100 block of Lenore Drive. Again, the man demanded money, but fled when the woman refused.

Officers describe the suspect as a man in his 30s or 40s, weighing around 140 lbs.

He was dressed in black, wearing a balaclava or mask.

Neither victim was injured.
