Reigning premiers ‘exposed’: Superstar leads ruthless Pies blitz in spiteful statement as Lions wilt

Gold Coast is now the AFL’s sole undefeated team after Collingwood ruthlessly exposed reigning premiers Brisbane with a powerful win that handed the Lions their first loss of 2025.
In an at-times spiteful Easter Thursday clash, the Magpies made the Lions pay for their early ineffciency in front of goal — and strange decision to not tag superstar Nick Daicos — producing a eight-goal to three blitz across the second and third terms.
Unlike their previous five matches, the Lions couldn’t produced another come-from-behind win as the Magpies ran out comfortable winners at the Gabba to register their fifth straight victory.

It was the Magpies’ fourth straight win over the Lions, who couldn’t match the Pies’ clearance and territory strength.
The victory might’ve come at a cost for Collingwood, though, with skipper Darcy Moore in doubt for the Anzac Day blockbuster against Essendon after a nasty accidental knock to head from teammate Jeremy Howe.
