Regina woman charged with manslaughter for baby boy’s death

After an extensive investigation into the death of a three-month-old boy, a 23-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with manslaughter and criminal negligence.
Early in the morning on August 16, 2023, police were called to a home on Halifax Street in Regina for a report of a child not breathing. When officers arrived on the scene, they found the little boy “lying on the floor unresponsive,” police said.

Despite first aid efforts from police and paramedics, the boy was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
For nearly a year and a half since then, Regina police, the Regina Children’s Justice Centre and the provincial coroner have been investigating.
The woman, whose name was not released, is scheduled to appear Monday morning in Regina provincial court.
